Spoonflower Emerald Forest Challenge

I've been selling designs on Spoonflower since August 2015. I recently decided to begin entering some of the weekly challenges. This week's challenge is "Emerald Forest". I've spent lots of time in many places that I would call an Emerald Forest. I beag going through my photos and looking to see if I had any that would work good in a kaleidoscopic like repeat. I started to get discouraged and then stumbled across this photo. This is a photo I took on a trip to an ecological park in Honduras.

I played with different spots in the photo until I came across a pattern that I fell in love with. But it still needed "something".

I then went through numerous photos that I had of all kinds of butterflies. I thought about using a few different ones, but one particular butterfly was stuck in my head - the blue morpho. I've taken numerous photos of this butterfly - from the rainforests of Ecuador to butterfly gardens in Key West. But the only photo that I had that showed the full beauty of the Blue Morpho was one of a mounted specimen that I took at the Texas Memorial Museum at the University of Texas in Austin.

I took my Blue Morpho photo and made a vector of the butterfly. I then added the Blue Morpho to my leafy green background in two sizes and orientations. While I see where I could have improved my design, I submitted it as seen below.

The design is displayed as a Roostery Catalan pillow.
