Spoonflower 1920's Challenge

The last few Spoonflower challenges were tough ones for me, and I wasn't very happy with my entries. This week is the 1920's challenge, and it took me a very long time to decide if I had anything that would possibly work.

I am always taking photos of things just because I like the pattern or texture. My favorite textures are wood and metal. I have a zillion photos of various forms of wood and just as many of metal - especially rusted metal. As I was going through my photos, I came across this photo I took in Atlanta, Georgia. If you look close - you'll see it has metal and wood.

This decorative metal covering was on an old building. I thought the design on it was art deco in nature and decided that it would fit into a 1920's theme. So I started to play around with various portions of the photo creating some repeating patterns. I ended up loving all of them and put them on Spoonflower. Swatches have been ordered and these will be available to purchase soon. I gave them all 1920's themed names.

This is Bees Knees Ginger Ornamental.

This is Club House Coffee Ornamental.

This is Tobacco Brown Ornamental.

This is Cup of Joe Brown Ornamental.

I was really loving the patterns that were being created, but felt that the natural rusty patina really didn't fit into the 1920's theme. I did a google search to figure out what colors were predominant in the 1920's and went to work on colorizing some designs.

Pale blues were popular. This design in on Spoonflower as Fly Boy Admiral Blue Ornamental.

This was my attempt at a goldish tan. I called it Oriental Spice Ornamental.

I found that one of my favorite colors originates from the 1920's. This is Chartreuse Club Ornamental.

I also found that a lot of aquamarine and teal colors were popular. I call this one Ocean Parasol Ornamental.

I named this one Aquamarine Dream Ornamental.

This one is Barrell House Teal Ornamental.

Then I explored other colors. This one is Jazz Age Fuchsia Ornamental.

Then we have Prohibition Purple Ornamental.

Next is Cocktail Party Strawberry Ornamental.

Next is Starlet Ruby Ornamental.

I could not decide which design to enter into the challenge, so I asked my husband.  I named it Gatsby's Gate.

So, do you think he picked the right one?

Voting is open through August 14th at 3pm Eastern. Vote HERE!
